I dont have a labret ring but a few of my friends and my brother does the metal ring would be better being as my brothers plastic one the skin grew around it.

I could sware that since i put on these chrome rings. Plastic rings while traditional and easy to produce have offered stability and consistency to guitar makers for many years. But the metal one also is very hard on your teeth my suggestion is that if you have had your peircing for a long time then use a plastic one but change often. There seems to be some debate concerning the effect they have and also why they have an effect.

I just changed the black plastic pickup rings on my ps 4 to chrome plated metal rings. I prefer plastic slick pick. But covers of all materials keep the pickup a touch further away from the strings and that makes a difference in tone and output if you keep your pickups close to the strings like most people do. A pickup mounting technique needs to do 2 things. I play merle travis and chet atkins on the guitar which is why i use this pick.
